Xuedan Gao is a new media artist and music technologist whose practice centers on sound, installation, and improvisational performance. She explores non-instrumentalized ways of using technology and builds systems in which control is partially relinquished, allowing machines, materials, and non-human processes to shape perception over time. Her work investigates how sound emerges when human intention steps back, foregrounding uncertainty, error, and non-human temporality as generative forces. She holds an MS in Music Technology from Georgia Institute of Technology and a BA in Art and Technology from Beijing Film Academy.
